Text Box: Formed in mid 2005, s1ngleton boasts a passionate power-pop punk sound that combines high energy with well-crafted harmonies. The band was founded by lead vocalist/guitarist Cameron Springfield and was initially intended to be a solo project—a little-known fact to many. After a short period of composing s1ngleton’s music alone, Springfield soon realized that a sound which was as explosive and multi-faceted as he envisioned would require expanding the project to include drums, a second guitar, and bass. Several months later, s1ngleton’s initial line-up had taken shape with the addition of drummer Jack Chavez and guitarist Matty Rockville. Shortly thereafter, the band went into the studio to record a self-titled 4-song demo and prepared to establish a name for itself in the Baltimore/Washington DC music scene. Just as s1ngleton geared up to debut their sound in area venues, Matty Rockville announced that he would be leaving the band to pursue other career interests and amicably parted ways with the band. As Rhyan Bailey quickly stepped in to replace Matty Rockville and add a second set of vocals, the band also welcomed bassist Damian Nopulos, thus rounding out a 4-man lineup. However, as s1ngleton’s rocky history indicated, this would not be the last of band member changes. After spending several months playing local shows regularly and writing material for their upcoming full-length debut CD, the band asked Chavez to leave the band, citing personal and creative differences as grounds for the decision. Two months later, the current lineup was solidified with the addition of drummer Nick James. Within a few short months, s1ngleton succeeded in bombarding the local music scene with its catchy blend of melodic, toe-tapping tunes and undeniable, interlaced Springfield-Bailey harmonies that came together to form an explosive live show whose energy could not be ignored. Fans and onlookers alike were quickly drawn to the bursts of creative energy that detonated every time this foursome collaborated musically—earning the band comparisons to veteran acts from Blink 182 and Rancid to Alkaline Trio and Sugarcult. This collective talent and infectiously captivating songs gave the band an opportunity to share stages with national acts such as Mustard Plug, Voodoo Glow Skulls, The River City Rebels, and The Aggrolites, to name a few. Armed with a very loyal fan base and a vehement passion to introduce their sound to the world, s1ngleton traveled to Nashville, TN in November of 2007 to record three polished tracks with renowned artist development company, Baldwin Entertainment. The demo would serve to expose s1ngleton to major record labels with the help of Baldwin. In addition to Baldwin, s1ngleton also enlisted the expertise of In Vision Entertainment so they could begin broadening their fan base throughout the Northeast and the Midwest as well as showcasing their signature sound. As 2008 rolls in, s1ngleton has shown no sign of slowing down, already slating to begin tracking songs for their forthcoming debut, “liprings and razrs.”
